Yula & The Extended Family

5

The eXtended Family is an all-embracing, breathing, ever-morphing poetic tribe.

They began in Brooklyn, New York with their heart, their soul: Yula Be'eri. Yula hails from Tel Aviv, Israel. There, she learned the ways of the bass, voice and piano. She brought those talents to NYC to the World Inferno/Friendship Society, Star Fucking Hipsters, and NaNuchKA-to name just a few. Over the years, she's been growing a garden of   original music; these songs are now part of the eXtended Family.

Since their first show at Le Poisson Rouge in February 2009-in just less than a year-Yula and the eXtended Family have played more than 30 shows; touring extensively along the East coast and the Southwest.

Ryder Cooley is an inter-disciplinary artist, performer and musician. Weaving together chimeric visions with residue of daily life, her work reveals a terrain of lost dreams and phantom memories. Working with found materials and personal mythologies, she creates cinematic performances and installation spaces.

"I believe the emphasis on popcorn and other noise-making foods has helped to drive many people away from the    movies, and I think the commercial pounding that the television listeners are subjected to will eventually drive many of them away from their sets.  Where they will go I don't know.  Perhaps they will take up fox hunting or glass blowing, or maybe they will just roam the streets at night searching for peace and quiet." -Groucho Marx

He was born in New York and before joining Bon Jovi as its lead drummer since 1983 he made his reputation by playing with the likes of Franke and the Knockouts, Pat Benatar, Chuck Berry, Cher, Alice Cooper, and Stevie Nicks. Tico is also an accomplished painter and avid patron of all the arts. In 2008, the Tico Torres Children Foundation was formed with the mission to address the needs of children everywhere. Expenses are minimal as the Foundation has no payroll and executive and all collateral support is donated by Board Members and volunteers. The charity strives for an eighty percent ratio of funds received from all sources benefiting children directly. This year the foundation was instrumental in organizing a massive effort to mobilize doctors, nurses and supplies both on location in Haiti and in the Dominican Republic to aid the children of Haiti in need of health care services. The ArtSee project is proud to have Tico as a supporter and would like to acknowledge and honor his artistry and humanity.
